Meet your candidates:
For the Green party: Dr Gio Iozzi
“I’m a London-born writer, teach creative writing and have lived in Stroud Green for 19 years. As a trained journalist with proven grassroots campaign experience, I can organise and take direct action, genuinely enjoy talking to people from different generations and backgrounds as well as being committed to being a strong, independent advocate for residents’ key issues and concerns. Historically, my campaigning has been focused on protecting trees, but I am interested in a wide range of campaigning issues: from making our streets safer, cleaner and healthier, protecting our parks and green spaces, lobbying for clean air, better active travel and improved cycling routes in the borough. In 2021, I founded the Haringey Tree Protectors which aims to protect and preserve mature trees across Haringey. https://haringey.greenparty.org.uk/2026/01/14/meet-the-candidates-jan26/

For the Liberal Democrats: Liz Whitlock
“Hello, I am a senior nurse in the NHS and have lived in Stroud Green ward for 29 years. My children attended Weston Park and Highgate Wood Schools. I was the Co-Chair of Highgate wood HSA for 4 years and worked with students and teachers to bring benefits to the whole school community.
In 2018 I was a founding member of the Park road Lido User Group (PRLUG) and have worked tirelessly holding first Fusion, and now Haringey Council, to account, to ensure that this valuable community asset remains open, clean, safe and accessible to all.
I want to use my local knowledge and professional skills to bring about change, hold decision makers to account and to be a voice for the Stroud Green community.”

For the Labour party: Navdeep Kaur
“I have lived in different parts of the borough for 26 years and I now live in Crouch End with my husband and two children, who attend local schools. I am standing as a councillor to give residents a strong voice and ensure their concerns shape local decisions. I want to contribute and help my local community as best I can.
My concerns in Stroud Green are housing repairs, crime, anti-social behaviour and the use of green spaces and parks. I will prioritise these issues, as I understand how deeply they affect residents ability to enjoy their homes and surroundings. I will work hard to address inequality and improve living standards for all us that live in Haringey, so we can feel safe in and proud of our diverse and wonderful community.”
