On 31 August, volunteers past and present were invited to the Community Centre for an informal celebration of the work they do to keep Hornsey Vale the vibrant community hub it is. It was a delight to see so many familiar faces together – some catching up for the first time in months or even years. We enjoyed a drink or two and a delicious Mexican-inspired supper whipped up by Debra and Larry.
Volunteers tend to be unsung heroes but are the lifeblood of grassroots organisations such as Hornsey Vale Community Association. Founded by a group of enthusiastic locals in 1991, our Association and its hub, Hornsey Vale Community Centre, relies on a band of willing and able members of the community whose passion and dedication fuels our work.
Our team of keyholders—who ensure smooth running of parties and security of the premises; those who keep the building looking spic and span with screwdrivers and paintbrushes; our Lunch Club servers, our gardeners and ever-resourceful admin and event volunteers: we value you all and literally couldn’t exist without you!
