Open Community Day 2023

Thank you to everyone who came along to Hornsey Vale Community Centre’s engagement day on Monday 8 May 2023; it was great to see so many people enjoying the centre on a damp spring day!

It was a chance for our neighbours to meet us and mingle over snack snacks and a cuppa, and for everyone to get involved in fun taster sessions which gave a flavour of the range of activities available at the centre.

Timed to coincide with the Coronation weekend’s Big Help Out, a day designed to raise awareness about volunteering, we wanted to spread the word about volunteering opportunities at the centre.

Here are some of our fabulous hirers who offered taster sessions: Creative Arts Kids, Singing Mamas, Reiki Rei, Lingotot, Pantera Taekwon-Do.

Hornsey Vale Community Centre is a special place—a community hub managed by volunteers for over 30 years. Since 1991, local people have given their time to ensure it is a secular, inclusive space serving Stroud Green, Hornsey and Crouch End, where we as a community can come together to socialise, keep fit, learn and promote wellbeing. The Centre is run by the Hornsey Vale Community Association (HVCA, a charity) which elects trustees and recruits volunteers. We are looking to tap into the fabulous generosity, talents and skills of our local community to help ensure the community keeps thriving.

Interested in getting involved but couldn’t make it on the day?

There are numerous ways you can get involved in supporting the centre, all with varying time commitments. Feel free to ask questions about opportunities to support our work, as well as what our greatest needs are. Check our our current volunteering needs here.
