Mayor of London support for Hornsey Vale

We’re delighted to be one of 23 organisations in London supported by the Mayor’s Community Spaces at Risk Fund.

The Fund recognises that grassroots charities like ours have been placed under severe financial pressure this year and offers help make sure we don’t lose them.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Community […] spaces play a vital role in supporting Londoners, but many are facing an uncertain future due to the devastating impact of the pandemic. I am delighted that we have been able to offer these essential spaces the lifeline they need to deliver support to vulnerable people in our communities.”

Securing the maximum grant of £10,000 will go some way to clearing our rent bill from Haringey Council. And as part of the package, business support from Locality will help us negotiate a satisfactory new lease, securing this important community asset for the future.

Winning this grant is the latest success in our strategy to diversify our funding. It is a major boost to have the confidence of the GLA and to be recognised as a well-governed organisation worth investing in. As a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation every penny we raise is invested back into Hornsey Vale, helping us to improve our services and reach out to benefit more people in Haringey.
